Loss of a loved one can have a devastating effect on people. Life around you appears to paralyze and time stands still. You cannot think beyond the moment as memories of happier times engulf you. You wish to dwell in those enchanting memories… but reality is not built on memories. There are duties and responsibilities you have to discharge. Arrangements to make. You wish there was someone who would understand the situation and help.
Who are TJ Andrews Funeral Services?
They are a 100% Australian owned company who have been caring for families and arranging memorable funerals since 1895. It was founded by Thomas James Andrews, in Newtown. Initially, the services operated using horse- drawn hearses. In 1923, they were replaced with motor vehicles.
The company has grown since that time and now has branches throughout the Sydney metropolitan area. It is still owned by the descendants of the original Andrews family and continues to serve the society with the experience and expertise they have gained over a century of arranging meaningful funerals.
Funeral Procedures
If death of the loved one occurs in a hospital. the doctor and hospital staff will arrange for the death certificate and other documents. The hospital will usually have a mortuary. The family selects a funeral director and contacts him.
If death occurs at home, contact the family doctor who will attend and confirm the fact of death. The doctor will arrange for the death and cremation certificates. You may contact the funeral director who will arrange for the transport to the mortuary.
When to contact TJ Andrews Funeral Services?
Many nursing homes will ask you to nominate the funeral director to be contacted if necessary, even at the time of admission into the nursing home. This is because many health care centers don’t have mortuary facility. The skilled and qualified personnel of TJ Andrews have many years of experience and can assist you with all arrangements.
What are the services offered?
Many types of services are offered by TJ Andrews Funerals. When you contact the funeral director, you can discuss all available options. You can select the service that would best suit your expectations, convenience and monetary considerations.
Two Services
Traditionally, funerals are commenced in a church, where the major portion of the service would be held. This will be followed by a procession to the cemetery or crematorium at which a short committal service would be held. A variation of this is a service held at another location, perhaps at the Funeral Director’s chapel, family home or a community hall.
Single Service
If there is only one service, everything will take place at one location. This simplified version of a funeral ritual may be chosen, considering the long distance people may need to travel, time constraints and to provide an opportunity for all mourners to congregate at one location.
War Veteran Funerals
TJ Andrews Funeral Services offers special pricing for funerals of returned service personnel and their spouses. A national flag can be draped over the coffin and a cushion is provided for display of medals.
Vehicles provided
In addition to the modern fleet of hearses, TJ Andrews offers a variety of hearse options like Cadillac, Motorcycle, Horse-drawn and Rolls Royce. Vintage vehicles are also available on request.
The dedicated staff of TJ Andrews are available 24 hours a day and on all days of the week. They can arrange repatriation from interstate or anywhere in the world. They are a member of the prestigious worldwide organization of National Selected Morticians. They can also arrange for cremated remains to be repatriated.
