About Tobin Brothers Funerals
Tobin Brothers Funerals began in North Melbourne in 1934, when four Tobin brothers pooled their savings to start the business. It says it has been family owned for over 90 years, and it was inducted into the Family Business Australia Victoria Hall of Fame in 2013. Head office and a chapel remain on Boundary Road, North Melbourne.
The firm now lists more than 25 branches, mostly across Melbourne's suburbs, plus regional branches such as Ballarat, Echuca and Wodonga. Its motto is "if it's legal, it's possible", and it focuses on personalised services built around the life of the person who has died.
Tobin Brothers publishes package prices on its website and has offered a Fixed Price Funeral Plan since 1984. It also runs culturally specific services, including its Ottimo package for Italian families, and Frances Tobin Funerals by Women, a service delivered entirely by women.
